Our History
Our Story: Doing It Right the First Time
While 1st Plumber to Call Inc. was officially incorporated in 1994 in Atlanta, Georgia, our roots go back even further—to 1985, when a 17-year-old named Joseph Mabrey discovered his passion for plumbing thanks to an unexpected water leak.
It all started when Joseph’s mother’s washing machine water line burst. The Master Plumber called to fix the issue and invited young Joseph to lend a hand. That experience sparked a journey that would define his life. The same plumber took Joseph under his wing, and he began his apprenticeship that very year. Not long after, Joseph became the youngest among a testing group of 300 to earn his Journeyman’s license.
After gaining experience working with several Atlanta plumbing companies, Joseph realized something was missing. The quality of service, honesty, and fair pricing that customers deserved simply wasn’t there. He knew he had to build something better—something based on values like honesty, trustworthiness, dependability, and fairness.
Just three years later, Joseph once again became the youngest in his class to earn the coveted Master 2 Non-Restricted Plumbing License—the highest plumbing license available in Georgia, qualifying him for residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing work.
That’s when we asked Georgia to make us their 1st Plumber to Call—and the name stuck. After hearing from countless customers how memorable and unique our name was, we went ahead and trademarked it to protect the concept.
We eventually put down roots in Canton, Georgia, and though we’ve grown significantly over the years, our core values have never changed.
